The honest trade-off
Cross-platform gets you roughly one codebase instead of two. It does not get you a free second platform: you still need platform-specific design review, separate store submissions, and native modules whenever you touch something the framework has not wrapped.
Our rule of thumb is simple. If the app is mostly screens of content, forms and navigation, cross-platform is the right call and the savings are real. If it depends on sustained background processing, complex gestures, or deep hardware access, the native escape hatches accumulate until you are maintaining three codebases instead of two.
