The problem

Marketplaces need sellers, and new sellers churn fast. They list a few items, get little traction, cannot tell whether they are doing something wrong or simply need patience, and leave. The platform loses supply and never finds out why.

What we built

A tiered seller progression that makes the path explicit. Each level states exactly what it requires and what it unlocks, so a new seller always knows what to do next and can see that effort is accumulating toward something.

  • Seller levels with published, unambiguous criteria
  • Onboarding that walks a first listing end to end
  • Category browsing and discovery for buyers
  • Progress tracking against the next tier
  • Notifications for orders, messages and level changes

Gamification that is not manipulative

The distinction we held to: tiers reward things that genuinely make someone a better seller - accurate descriptions, fast dispatch, resolved disputes - rather than things that merely increase platform activity. A progression system that rewards posting volume gets you volume, and a marketplace full of low-quality listings.

Legibility over surprise

Every criterion is published. No hidden thresholds, no unexplained ranking. A seller who does not progress can see precisely which criterion they are missing, which turns a frustrating mystery into a task.
