Bloomberg says the new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini 2 ship on 30 October, with an A19 and an S10 inside
Mark Gurman says the new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini ship on 30 October. Microphones in the Apple TV and a remote that can ring are only in testing.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported on 11 October that Apple's new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini will ship on Friday 30 October.
Both are expected to be shown at Apple's Welcome home launch on 13 October. In a video later the same day, Gurman said pre-orders should open this week, MacRumors reported. This is reported, not announced: Gurman cites people he does not name, and Apple has not named either product. Every outlet carrying the details is relaying his newsletter.
What is new in the Apple TV 4K?
Gurman says the Apple TV moves to an A19, the standard chip rather than the Pro. In September he had said A19 or A19 Pro, so the report has narrowed. MacRumors' summary adds 8GB of memory.
Two further features are hedged. Apple has tested microphones in the box itself, so Siri could be used without the remote. It has also tested a Siri Remote with a built-in speaker, so a lost remote can play a sound. 9to5Mac and MacRumors both describe these as tested, and MacRumors says it is unconfirmed whether either ships. Code in macOS 26.7 pointed to a new Siri Remote in August, but showed no changes to it.
What is new in the HomePod mini?
The HomePod mini moves to an S10, the chip from Apple Watch Series 10, according to MacRumors' account of the newsletter. MacRumors lists green, pink, blue, white and midnight. Siri AI support is expected. 9to5Mac also expects Apple's N1 wireless chip with Wi-Fi 7 and Thread, which matches Gurman's September reporting rather than this newsletter. No price was reported for either device.
Current model, per Apple | Reported new model | |

The current figures are from Apple's technical specification pages and US store, read on 12 October. Apple's HomePod mini page does not name its chip.
Our take
For most owners the chip is the story. The current Apple TV 4K runs an A15, a chip too old for Apple Intelligence on iPhone. An A19 with 8GB is the first Apple TV that could run Siri AI on the device. That is the same reason the first Apple TV 4K has just been marked vintage: the line is being reset around new software, not new picture quality.
The microphones matter more than they look. A box that hears the room can act as a home hub of its own, and we reported code in the audioOS 27.2 beta that lets HomePods pass Siri requests to an Apple TV. If the microphones ship, an Apple TV could answer directly. If they do not, the remote stays the only way in.
APPDOOK would not read much into the remote speaker either way. It is a welcome fix for a familiar problem, and tested is not the same as shipping. The question worth asking on Tuesday is price. Gurman gave none, and a jump to an A19 and an S10 makes it the thing most likely to decide whether owners of the current models upgrade.
