A YouTube video titled as a first look at Final Cut Pro 13 was posted and then made private on 1 October, and its chapter list names six features Apple has not announced.

The video came from the channel The Final Cut Bro. Before it was hidden, Reddit users copied its chapter markers, and AppleInsider reported them on 1 October. That is the whole chain: no footage, no screenshots and no code have surfaced, only the titles of the chapters. This is a leak at the unverified grade. Nothing corroborates it, and the one other outlet that has carried the list repeats the same Reddit capture. Apple has said nothing about a Final Cut Pro 13.

The six features in the chapter list

  • Transcription in more languages
  • Round-trip editing with Pixelmator Pro, sending a frame out and bringing the edited frame back
  • Natural Motion Blur
  • Pinch-to-zoom and other viewer controls
  • Disconnecting clips
  • Keyframe easing

No source gives a date, a price, or a macOS requirement. AppleInsider expects the release alongside new Macs before the end of the year, which is its own expectation rather than anything in the video.

Where Final Cut Pro is now

Apple's own release notes put the current version at 12.4, released on 29 September, which added editing of Cinematic mode footage from Final Cut Camera: moving focus points and changing depth of field after the shot. Version 12.3, on 30 June, added generated captions, Auto Mask and Match Color. Since January, Final Cut Pro has also been part of Apple Creator Studio, the subscription that bundles it with Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro and Motion, while one-time Mac purchases remain on sale.

How much weight should this carry?

Some, but not much. A creator posting a polished video and pulling it within hours is consistent with someone who had early access and published before an embargo lifted. It is also consistent with a creator who guessed, or who mislabelled a video about 12.4. The chapter titles alone cannot tell those apart, and the video itself has not been seen by any outlet that reported it.

Our take

If the list is right, the Pixelmator Pro round-trip is the one that says the most. Apple bought Pixelmator in 2024 and put Pixelmator Pro into Creator Studio beside Final Cut Pro this year. A frame that leaves Final Cut, gets retouched and comes back in place is the kind of link that makes a bundle worth more than its parts, and it fits the direction of Apple moving premium features behind Creator Studio. Whether a feature like that would be limited to subscribers is exactly what the leak cannot say.

The rest of the list reads as the steady catch-up work editors ask for every year: keyframe easing and better viewer controls are basics in competing editors. Natural Motion Blur would be the second iPhone-adjacent feature in a row, after 12.4 built its update around Final Cut Camera on the iPhone 18 Pro.

APPDOOK's judgement is that the features are plausible and the source is thin. Treat the list as a guess at what 13 contains, not a description of it. Editors in the middle of a project have no reason to wait, and the confirmation that matters, an Apple release note, will settle it either way.
